I note with great interest that the Italian Government now intends to make such structural measures in the electricity sector more effective: the proposal from Minister Marzano to set new antitrust ceilings for production capacity and to fix a time limit for implementing them seems to me to be a step in the right direction, also because it takes account of the transitory and non-punitive nature of this type of instrument and may help to limit the market power of the dominant operator on the future Power Exchange.
