Mr. Speaker, I rise today to join fellow parliamentarians from around the world representing the Inter-parliamentary Group for Human Rights in Iran to stand in solidarity on this international Student Day in Iran with those who are courageously protesting the Iranian regime's systematic campaign of fear, violence and repression.
Monsieur le Président, je joins aujourd'hui ma voix à celle de nos homologues parlementaires du monde entier qui forment le Groupe interparlementaire pour les droits de la personne en Iran afin de soutenir, en cette Journée des étudiants iraniens, ceux qui protestent courageusement contre la campagne de peur, de violence et de répression systématique menée par le régime iranien.

Such efforts, as you said, sounds the alarm on the fourfold Iranian threat—nuclear, terrorist, incitement, and in particular the Iranian regime’s widespread and systematic violations of human rights.

Iran Accountability Week this year coincides with the ongoing nuclear negotiations which risk overshadowing, if not sanitizing, the Iranian regime's widespread and systematic violations of human rights, which continue, despite Iranian President Rouhani's talk of " moderation" .

Strongly condemns the continuing provocative, inflammatory and anti-Semitic rhetoric of the Iranian President, who has called for Israel to be ‘wiped out’, and particularly deplores the threats made against the very existence of the State of Israel; is very concerned by the exponentially rising numbers of executions in Iran, which come down to extrajudicial state murder in view of the lack of any due process, as well as by the continued systematic repression of citizens aspiring to more freedom and democracy; stresses that official mutual contacts between the delegations of the European Parliament and the Majlis should also be used to address human rights issues, should be conditional on free access to visit political prisoners and human rights activists and the representatives should be given the opportunity to exchange freely a full range of political opinions; calls on the VP/HR to make arrangements for re-establishing an EU Delegation in Iran in order to be able to monitor, from an EU perspective, the situation on the ground; urges the Iranian regime to abstain from interference to Iraqi internal affairs;
76. condamne vivement la poursuite de la rhétorique incendiaire, provocatrice et antisémite du président iranien, qui a appelé à rayer Israël de la carte du monde, et déplore en particulier les menaces brandies contre l'existence même de l'État d'Israël; se déclare extrêmement préoccupé par l'augmentation exponentielle du nombre d'exécutions en Iran qui s'apparentent plutôt à des meurtres d'État extrajudiciaires au vu de l'absence de toute procédure judiciaire et de la répression systématique et permanente des citoyens aspirant à plus de liberté et de démocratie; souligne que les contacts officiels entre les délégations du Parlement européen et du Majlis devraient être aussi l'occasion d'aborder les problèmes des droits de l'homme, d'obtenir un droit de visite conditionnel aux prisonniers politiques et aux militants des droits de l'homme, et, pour les représentants, de formuler librement une vaste gamme d'opinions politiques; invite la vice-présidente/haute représentante à prendre les dispositions nécessaires pour mettre à nouveau en place une délégation de l'Union européenne en Iran afin de permettre une surveillance, du point de vue de l'Union, de la situation sur le terrain; appelle le régime iranien à s'abstenir de toute ingérence dans les affaires internes irakiennes;

With persistence and by relying on the courageous spirit of the Iranian people, who clearly yearn to be free, it is my profound hope that the systematic abuses of the Iranian regime can be ended in our lifetime.

For years now the Council has tried to convince European citizens of the peaceful intentions of the Iranian regime, and as a result of negotiations with that regime, the Council included the main Iranian opposition party in its list of terrorist organisations, although there is nothing terrorist about the party in question; on the contrary, it is the main victim of the terrorism promoted by the Iranian regime.
