24 (1) Except as authorized by subsection (2), no person shall knowingly communicate or knowingly allow to be communicated to any person any information obtained under this Act from a farmer or from any creditor of a farmer, or knowingly allow any person to inspect or have access to any such information.

If the government is so dedicated to Canadian farmers and, for that matter, our economic prosperity, then how does it justify only six dogs, minimal baggage inspection and flat out failure to inspect people and baggage coming here from areas infected with foot and mouth?

We have the overarching inspection for cross compliance by competent authorities, but farmers are increasingly facing other levels and layers of inspections from processors, from retailers, from all sorts of groups; we need a little bit of coordination and not duplication of inspections.

In addition, inspectors should have the discretion to take into account un-seasonal and sudden factors which mitigate against full compliance - due to no fault of the farmer.
