I would therefore like to echo the Commissioner’s words about the Commission’s strategy for progressing this issue and to inform the House that in accordance with the opinion of the Council presidency and also of the Commission, this matter was discussed as part of a wider issue which we wish to address in this Chamber today, which is an area of fundamental importance for the future of Europe. That area is air transport and the environment, and how to overcome the challenges of sustainable development.
J’aimerais, d’autre part, m’associer aux paroles que Madame la Commissaire a eu l’occasion de prononcer dans cette enceinte concernant la stratégie adoptée par la Commission pour le développement de cette affaire, et dire à Mesdames et Messieurs les Députés que, conformément à l’opinion de la présidence du Conseil et également de la Commission, ce sujet a été abordé et intégré dans une problématique plus vaste, que nous pensions traiter aujourd’hui, au sein de ce Parlement, et qui a trait à un domaine d’une importance capitale pour le futur de l’Europe : il s’agit des transports aériens et de l’environnement, et des moyens de relever les défis du développement durable.
