Apart from the financial perspective, the new Inter-institutional Agreement on budgetary discipline and improvement of the budgetary procedure includes provisions to promote better cooperation between the institutions during the annual budgetary procedure.

Past experience has shown that, in the context of the EU-Korea FTA, the consistency and quality of the dialogue between the EU and Korea have been significantly improved thanks to better coordination of the activities of the EU DAG and the EU institutions, as well as coordination between them and other international organisations such as the ILO and the OECD. The EESC recommends that the working methods developed through this inter-institutional cooperation be used in the next period, including by developing new partnerships for relevant activities and projects.
L’expérience acquise par le passé montre que dans le contexte de l’accord de libre-échange entre l’Union européenne et la Corée, une meilleure coordination entre les activités du GCI de l’Union européenne et des institutions européennes, ainsi qu’entre ces activités et celles d’autres organisations internationales, telles que l’organisation internationale du travail (OIT) et l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques (OCDE), a permis de renforcer considérablement la cohérence et la qualité du dialogue entre l’Union européenne et la Corée. It is necessary to implement certain principles regarding the governance of the Agency in order to comply with the Joint Statement and Common Approach agreed upon in July 2012 by the Inter-Institutional Working Group on EU decentralised agencies, the purpose of which statement and approach is to streamline the activities of agencies and improve their performance.

The Commission asks them to conclude an inter-institutional agreement on better regulation. This follows the conclusions of the Lisbon European Council in 2000, which called on the Institutions and the Member States to establish a coordinated strategy for simplifying and improving the regulatory environment.
