In Bill C-18, a section is added to the Health of Animals Act to provide that an animal or thing is forfeited to the Crown if the minister determines that the animal or thing has been unlawfully imported or an attempt has been made to unlawfully import the animal or thing, or that a regulatory requirement has not been met for an imported animal or thing.54
