whereas ILO Convention No 189 and Recommendation No 201 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers represent a historical set of international standards aimed at improving the working conditions of tens of millions of domestic workers worldwide; whereas most domestic workers are women and the new standards set out in ILO Convention No 189 are an important step in advancing gender equality in the world of work and in ensuring equal rights for women and protection under the law; whereas, however, out of the 22 states which have ratified the Convention to date, only six are Member States (Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Portugal).
considérant que la convention no 189 et la recommandation no 201 de l'OIT concernant le travail décent pour les travailleuses et travailleurs domestiques constituent un ensemble historique de normes internationales visant à améliorer les conditions de travail de dizaines de millions de travailleurs domestiques à travers le monde; que la plupart des travailleurs domestiques sont des femmes et que les nouvelles normes établies dans la convention no 189 de l'OIT représentent une étape importante sur la voie de l'égalité hommes-femmes dans le monde du travail et de l'égalité des droits des femmes et de la protection devant la loi; considérant toutefois que sur les 22 États qui ont ratifié la convention à ce jour, seuls six sont des États membres de l'Union (la Belgique, la Finlande, l'Allemagne, l'Irlande, l'Italie et le Portugal).

The Report concludes that the progress made by Myanmar/Burma towards complying with the ILO recommendations, which has been acknowledged by the competent ILO monitoring bodies, means that violations of the principles laid down in ILO Convention No 29 are no longer considered as ‘serious and systematic’ and recommends that access to generalised tariff preferences should be reinstated to Myanmar/Burma.

22. Urges the Member States, in keeping with ILO Recommendation 193/2002, to review their legislation applying to cooperatives in general and, in particular, to specific cooperative typologies such as worker cooperatives, social cooperatives, artisans’ cooperatives and cooperative banks, with a view to adopting a comprehensive policy to support the cooperative business model and creating a regulatory environment favourable to the recognition of the role of cooperatives and their management organisations and to the development of cooperatives, especially in fields and sectors where this model has proven to have a social, economic and environmental added-value; calls on the Member States, acting in cooperation with the social partners and other stakeholders at regional and local level, to identify strategic sectors suitable for cooperative projects; stresses that this should include the introduction of appropriate financial instruments and the recognition of cooperatives’ role in the national social dialogue, in addition to the role of cooperative credit banks, which have always attached particular importance to sustainable and socially responsible financing and are well-established locally; calls for this recommendation to be borne in mind in the context of the review of the Regulation on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE);
22. demande instamment aux États membres, en conformité avec la recommandation 193/2002 de l'OIT, de réexaminer leur législation applicable aux coopératives en général et, en particulier, à des types de coopératives spécifiques, telles que les coopératives de travailleurs, les coopératives sociales, les coopératives d'artisans et les banques coopératives, en vue d'adopter une politique globale destinée à soutenir le modèle d'entreprise coopérative et d'élaborer un cadre réglementaire favorable à la reconnaissance du rôle joué par les coopératives et leurs organisations de gestion ainsi qu'à la création de coopératives, notamment dans les domaines et les secteurs où la valeur ajoutée sociale, économique et environnementale de ce modèle est avérée; appelle les États membres à identifier, conjointement avec les partenaires sociaux et d'autres parties prenantes aux niveaux local et régional, des secteurs stratégiques adaptés aux projets coopératifs; souligne que, pour ce faire, il y a lieu de prévoir la mise en place d'instruments financiers appropriés et la reconnaissance du rôle joué par les coopératives dans le dialogue social au niveau national, ainsi que du rôle des banques de crédit coopératif qui, depuis toujours, accordent une importance primordiale au financement durable et responsable sur le plan social et qui sont ancrées au niveau local; demande que cette recommandation soit prise en considération dans le cadre de la révision du règlement relatif au statut de la société coopérative européenne (SCE);

This is regarding freedom of association and the protection of the right to organize in Colombia.

At the same time, we must not forget the methodological aspects that occur throughout the process, and we feel that the motion that has been tabled lists a set of recommendations – and we should emphasise here that these are only recommendations – which, in general terms, will protect fundamental rights. These include personal freedoms, immigrants’ rights, freedom of movement, the right to privacy, non-discrimination, gender equality, children’s rights, the rights of people with disabilities and the protection of social rights. These recommendations will protect social rights – particularly by making optimal use of the revised European Social Charter and the ILO conventions – and access to justice.

A further aim of the proposal is to maintain technical consistency with the recommendations of international organisations (including the IAEA- OECD, WHO and ILO) which are currently reviewing their basic safety standards for radiological protection.
