Tragic events in the course of last fall’s anti-government demonstrations and during the celebrations of the 1956 uprising, brutal police actions against peaceful civilian demonstrators, prompt me to issue a call from this European Parliament to the Hungarian Government to allow a dignified, peaceful commemoration and to remove the illegal barriers erected four months ago from around the Hungarian Parliament building.
