In addition it focused EU action on a number of key priorities, including rights of women and girls, children's rights, and LGBTI rights, and called for further work in the area of economic, social and cultural (ESC) rights, in line with the Union's commitment to the indivisibility of human rights.

Believes that, in order to bring about a significant improvement in the promotion of human rights, steps should be taken to strengthen the EU's common foreign and security policy (CFSP), which is often hampered by the predominance of Member States' national interests, with the aim of ensuring that the promotion of human rights is regarded as a priority, and to ensure that the promotion of human rights as an objective of the CFSP, as outlined in Article 11 of the Treaty on European Union, is strictly implemented;
