This annual event brings together representatives of EU institutions, Member States, international human rights experts and 100 civil society participants to exchange views and experiences on the topic of "EU Human Rights Instruments and the Lisbon Treaty: state of play and the way forward".

Reaffirms the importance of the special procedures and country mandates within the UNHRC; insists that the process for the renewal of mandates must be transparent and that efforts must be made to appoint independent and experienced candidates who are properly representative, both geographically and in terms of gender; notes that the mandate of the expert panel on Darfur has had to be merged with that of the Special Rapporteur on Sudan; also notes the European Union's decision to support a resolution calling for the non-renewal of the mandate of the human rights experts on Darfur and the UNHRC's decision not to renew the mandates in respect of Belarus and Cuba;
