Unfortunately, you might not be able to make it out on this map here, but if we agree that the economic heart line of Europe is situated approximately on an axis running from Amsterdam to Zurich, you can see that within each European country, the most economically vibrant areas, with the greatest growth, let's say, since the Second World War, are those which are the most geographically well positioned for trade with other European countries.
