Of course, we were once again saddened at the attempt by the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance, accompanied in this action by the Confederal Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left and by some Italian left-wing democrats – with an amendment which, fortunately, only received about 50 votes – to abort the continuation of the plan for the Messina bridge on the trans-European route from Berlin to Palermo.

Recalling its previous conclusions on Belarus, notably those of 7 November 2005 and 30 January 2006, and the Declaration adopted by the European Council on 23-24 March 2006 as well as the Presidency declaration on behalf of the European Union of 22 March 2006, the Council once again deplores the fact that the Presidential elections of 19 March were not held in a free and fair manner, and condemns the violence used by the Belarusian authorities against demonstrators and the ensuing arrests of demonstrators and members of the opposition.
Rappelant ses précédentes conclusions sur la Biélorussie, notamment celles du 7 novembre 2005 et du 30 janvier 2006, la déclaration adoptée par le Conseil européen des 23 et 24 mars 2006, ainsi que la déclaration de la présidence au nom de l'Union européenne, du 22 mars 2006, le Conseil déplore de nouveau que le scrutin présidentiel du 19 mars n'ait pas été libre et régulier, et condamne la violence exercée par les autorités biélorusses contre les manifestants ainsi que les arrestations de ces derniers et de membres de l'opposition qui s'en sont suivies.

Fortunately, the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance has once again been able to put forward an amendment to this House so that, at European level, resources are assigned to stimulate the promotion, monitoring and evaluation of a tourism policy that is both ecological and socially sustainable.
Heureusement, le groupe des Verts/Alliance libre européenne a pu présenter un nouvel amendement au Parlement afin que les ressources nécessaires soient affectées au niveau de l'Europe pour encourager la promotion, le suivi et l'évaluation d'une politique de tourisme écologique et durable d'un point de vue social.
