Bearing in mind that the EU has taken on the support of the countries in the Eastern Partnership and that the new government in the Republic of Moldova has shown a clear receptiveness towards the European Union, I believe that providing macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova in the form of a grant worth up to EUR 90 million is an initiative which is more than necessary.

It is worth recalling here that a package of € 200 million was granted to FRY/Serbia (emergency assistance) in October 2000 with the support for the European Parliament.
