The GALILEO project, which has been developed in conjunction with the European Space Agency, will enable users to accurately determine their positions in time and space at any given time. Its everyday uses are multiple, from radionavigation in individual cars to transport safety, not to mention the effects on the various commercial activities (banking sector, geology, public works, energy, etc.).

Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council of 14 July 2004 on the implementation of the deployment and commercial operating phases of the European programme of satellite radionavigation [COM(2004) 477 final - Not published in the Official Journal]. The Galileo programme has now reached an advanced stage of maturity and goes well beyond the framework of a simple research project.
