Although not yet fully implemented, the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) added €439 million in additional EU agri-food exports in 2015 (the latest year for which data is available), mostly in the form of primary products and commodities.

However, when looking at the development of bilateral trade in goods which has been fully or partially liberalised by the FTA, the situation looks much brighter also for Korea, with an increase of 35% in exports of fully liberalised goods and 64% of partially liberalised goods to the EU.

B. considérant que les directives de négociation de la Commission pour l'accord de libre-échange (ALE) UE-Viêt Nam sont jointes à l'autorisation du Conseil du 23 avril 2007 pour engager des négociations en vue d'un accord de libre-échange avec les pays de l'Association des nations de l'Asie du Sud-Est (ANASE) et font suite à l'approbation par le Conseil de la note de cadrage qui définit les objectifs communs des deux parties à la négociation, à savoir renforcer les relations commerciales bilatérales existantes; rappelle que l'objectif initial consistait à négocier un ALE avec la région de l'ANASE; soutient, dès lors, la possibilité de négocier des accords globaux avec les pays de la région de l'ANASE (en tant que sous-ensembles dans le but ultime de négocier, à terme, un ALE interrégional).
