TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

The Community has set itself the goal of completing a huge internal market by 1992 which for tourism will mean the disappearance of all physical checks at frontiers between the Member States. Above all, it will provide further stimulus as a result of the freedoms, already large and soon to be totally in effect, of establishment to provide services and movement of capital together with an alignement of VAT rates in this sector. Given that 70% of people in the Community still take their holidays in their own countries and only 20% in the other Member States(1), it is not difficult to imagine the positive repercussions that could result from these changes combined with hoped-for progress in transport and new information technology as well as gradual changes in holiday-makers' habits. To this would be added intensified development of new forms of alternative tourism (cultural, rural and social tourism, tourism for the elderly and tourism connected with sporting events and business) (1) Commission Survey of April 1986 on Europea holiday preferences, carried out by the European Omnibus Survey.
La Communauté s'est fixée comme obfectif de réaliser un vaste marché intérieur pour 1992, ce qui signifiera, en ce qui concerne le tourisme, la disparition de tout contrôle physique aux frontières entre les Etats membres mais surtout une stimulation accrue du secteur par les libertés -déjà largement existantes et prochainement totales - d'établissement, de prestation de services et de mouvements de capitaux ainsi que par le rapprochement des taux de T.V.A. Si l'on considère que 7O% de nos concitoyens prennent encore leurs vacances dans leur pays et seulement 20% dans les autres Etats membres(1), on conçoit aisément les effets positifs que pourront apporter ces changements cumulés aux progrès à escompter dans le domaine des transports et des nouvelles technologies de l'information, allant de pair avec une transformation graduelle des habitudes des vacanciers ainsi qu'avec un développement plus poussé des nouvelles formes de tourisme alternatif (tourisme culturel, tourisme rural, tourisme social, du troisième âge, tourisme sportif et des affaires) (1) Enqu ete de la Commission d'avril 1986 "Les Européens et leurs vacances", réalisée par European Omnibus Survey.
