Calls on the Government of South Sudan, following the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Council, to implement all international and regional human rights instruments to which it is party, as well as to improve the justice system and to strengthen the independence of the South Sudan Human Rights Commission; calls further for the European Union to ensure that the promotion of democracy and the establishment of an enabling environment for human rights organisations are essential elements in its development aid to South Sudan; calls on the European Union to ensure that development aid to South Sudan carefully considers the rights of women and girls in the country, specifically by supporting women’s organisations as well as by ending the practice of child marriages and child labour; calls for harmonisation of customary and statutory law, and emphasises the importance of establishing a separate judicial system for minors in order to prevent unlawful imprisonment and protect children’s rights; condemns the South Sudan authorities’ arbitrary detentions and harassment of journalists, as reported by NGOs, because this results in de facto censorship; calls on the South Sudanese authorities to hold to account and prosecute the perpetrators of such crimes against journalists;
9. invite le gouvernement du Soudan du Sud, suivant ainsi les recommandations du Conseil des droits de l'homme des Nations unies, à mettre en œuvre tous les instruments internationaux et régionaux en matière de droits de l'homme auquel il est partie, ainsi qu'à améliorer le système judiciaire et à renforcer l'indépendance de la commission des droits de l'homme du Soudan du Sud; prie en outre l'Union européenne de faire en sorte que la promotion de la démocratie et la mise en place d'un environnement favorable aux organisations de défense des droits de l'homme constituent des éléments clés de l'aide au développement qu'elle apporte au Soudan du Sud; demande par ailleurs à l'Union européenne de veiller à ce que l'aide au développement apportée au Soudan du Sud prenne dûment en compte les droits des femmes et des jeunes filles dans ce pays, notamment en soutenant les organisations de femmes et en abolissant la pratique du mariage d'enfants et le travail des enfants; appelle à une harmonisation de la législation douanière et statutaire et met l'accent sur l'importance d'établir un système judiciaire séparé pour les mineurs, afin d'empêcher toute incarcération illicite et de protéger les droits des enfants; condamne les détentions arbitraires et le harcèlement des journalistes par les autorités du Soudan du Sud dont rendent compte les ONG et qui se traduisent par de la censure dans les faits; invite les autorités du Soudan du Sud à demander des comptes aux personnes responsables de tels crimes contre les journalistes et à les poursuivre en justice;
