(f) for the provision by the Government of Canada or, if the first nation law is administered by the government of a province under an agreement entered into under section 7 of the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act, by the government of the province to the first nation of information acquired in the administration and enforcement of the first nation law or, subject to section 295 of the Excise Tax Act, of Part IX of that Act, and for the provision by the first nation to the Government of Canada or the government of the province, as the case may be, of information acquired in the administration of the first nation law;

(a) every provision of Part IX of the Excise Tax Act (other than a provision that creates a criminal offence) applies, with any modifications that the circumstances require, for the purposes of the first nation law as if tax referred to in each of paragraphs 4(1)(a) and (c) imposed under the first nation law were imposed under subsection 165(1) and section 218 of the Excise Tax Act respectively and, subject to subsection 4(9), as if tax referred to in paragraph 4(1)(b) imposed under the first nation law were imposed under subsection 220.05(1) of the Excise Tax Act in respect of the bringing of property into a participating province, but the first nation law shall not thereby be construed as imposing a tax except as provided in section 4;

the members of the management board of the national regulatory authority are appointed for a non-renewable fixed term of at least five years but for no more than seven years and that for the first mandate, that term shall be two-and-a-half years for half of the members. The members shall be relieved from office during their term only if they no longer fulfil the conditions set out in this Article or if they have been guilty of serious misconduct under national law; and

Their achievements are extraordinary. In the space of a decade, we have seen the holding of dozens of transparent, democratic national, regional and local elections, the adoption of thousands of laws and regulations giving shape to the new democracies and incorporating the Community acquis into national law, the training of tens of thousands of civil servants and magistrates to interpret and apply the new legislation and the participation of hundreds of thousands of elected officials, specialists and members of professional organisations in EU-financed training and cooperation projects in order to learn about our policies. All 12 countries satisfy the political criteria laid down at Copenhagen and democratic institutions are stronger everywhere. Lastly, the overall performance of the economies of the ten first-wave countries is gradually improving: their growth rates are higher than ours, their inflation rates and deficits are being managed and kept under control and direct foreign investment is flooding in.

The call for a unified statutory framework for European limited companies, which disregards diversity in national law, is an old federalist demand that is nearly as old as the Community itself, given that the first discussions on this subject were launched in 1959, and the first concrete proposal from the Commission dates back to 1970.
