Expresses its concern at the increasing involvement of extremist Islamist groups and transnational foreign fighters in the conflict in Syria; stresses that a lasting solution requires a political transition through a Syrian-led, inclusive political process with the support of the international community; welcomes and supports the work of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, and his efforts to achieve a freeze on heavy fighting in Aleppo; calls on all parties to the conflict in Syria to ensure the protection of the civilian population, to honour their obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law, to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid and assistance through all possible channels, including across borders and conflict lines, and to ensure the safety of all medical personnel and humanitarian workers;

Condemns the activities of those countries and/or their citizens who have given ideological or material support to IS or other extremist Islamist groups, notably Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, as well as Turkey and Syria; takes note of the Jeddah declaration, and calls on all those states to take concrete measures to stop all support, whether state-sponsored or sponsored by private individuals, for IS- and Al‑Qaeda‑affiliated groups;

Expresses its concern at the increasing involvement of extremist Islamist groups and foreign fighters in the conflict in Syria, the rise of religiously and ethnically motivated violence in the country, and the continued fragmentation and internal divisions within the opposition; continues to encourage the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces to create a more united, inclusive and organised opposition front both internally and externally;
3. exprime sa préoccupation quant à la participation de plus en plus active de groupes extrémistes islamistes et de combattants étrangers en Syrie, à l'augmentation de la violence à caractère religieux ou ethnique dans le pays et aux divisions internes importantes qui subsistent au sein de l'opposition et à sa fragmentation; continue d'encourager la Coalition nationale des forces de la révolution et de l'opposition syriennes à former un front d'opposition plus uni, inclusif et organisé, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur;
