The Commission recalls that the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission acknowledged in their Joint Political Declaration of 27 October 2011 on explanatory documents that the information Member States supply to the Commission as regards the transposition of directives in national law ‘must be clear and precise’ in order to facilitate the achievement by the Commission of its task overseeing the application of Union law.
La Commission rappelle que le Parlement européen, le Conseil et elle-même ont reconnu, dans leur déclaration politique commune du 27 octobre 2011 sur les documents explicatifs, que l'information que les États membres fournissent à la Commission concernant la transposition des directives dans le droit national «doit être claire et précise» afin de faciliter la tâche de la Commission qui est de veiller à l'application du droit de l'Union.

In its resolutions of 6 February 2013 on, respectively, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility: accountable, transparent and responsible business behaviour and sustainable growth’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility: promoting society's interests and a route to sustainable and inclusive recovery’, the European Parliament acknowledged the importance of businesses divulging information on sustainability such as social and environmental factors, with a view to identifying sustainability risks and increasing investor and consumer trust.

3. Before being granted access to classified information, Members of the European Parliament shall be briefed on and acknowledge their responsibilities to protect such information in accordance with the European Parliament’s security rules, and briefed on the means of ensuring such protection.

Avant de se voir accorder l’accès à une information classifiée, les députés au Parlement européen sont informés de leurs responsabilités en matière de protection de telles informations et prennent acte de ces responsabilités, conformément aux règles de sécurité du Parlement européen, et sont informés des moyens d’assurer cette protection.

6. Before being granted access to classified information, Members of the European Parliament shall be briefed on, and shall acknowledge, their responsibilities regarding the protection of such information in accordance with Annex I. They shall also be briefed on the means of ensuring such protection.

4. Where the information concerned is classified at the level CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL or its equivalent, access shall be granted to those Members of the European Parliament who have been authorised by the President pursuant to paragraph 5 or after having signed a solemn declaration of non-disclosure of the content of that information to third persons, of compliance with the obligation to protect information classified at the level CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL and of acknowledgement of the consequences of any failure to do so.

[38] The European Parliament acknowledged “the strategic importance of European World Languages as a communication vehicle and as a means of solidarity, cooperation, and economic investment” and, therefore, recommended this concept to be “one of the main political guidelines of European policy on multilingualism” - European Parliament resolution on a new framework strategy for multilingualism (2006/2083(INI).
