The European Council highlighted that the priority of ensuring the safety of nuclear plants obviously cannot stop at our borders and that the EU will request that similar "stress tests" be carried out in the neighbouring countries and worldwide, regarding both existing and planned plants. In this regard full use should be made of relevant international organisations.
Le Conseil européen a souligné que la sûreté des centrales nucléaires est une priorité, qui dépasse à l’évidence le cadre de nos frontières; l’UE demandera que des «tests de résistance» similaires soient effectués dans les pays voisins, ainsi que dans le monde entier, en ce qui concerne à la fois les centrales existantes et en projet; il convient à cet égard de mettre pleinement à contribution les organisations internationales compétentes.

The President of the European Council highlighted three points on which consensus was achieved during the discussions: that each Member State is entitled to take measures to uphold the rule of law in its territory, that the Commission has both the right and a duty to monitor Member States’ compliance with EU law, and that the question of Roma integration will be discussed at a future European Council meeting.
