Any transition must respect the legal and financial framework of the Single Market. To quote the European Council: "Should a time-limited prolongation of Union acquis be considered, this would require existing Union regulatory, budgetary, supervisory, judiciary and enforcement instruments and structures to apply".

Northern Ireland The European Council welcomed the reports of the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and of Ireland on the progress made in the peace process.
7. Irlande du Nord Le Conseil européen se félicite des rapports des Premiers ministres du Royaume-Uni et de l'Irlande sur les progrès du processus de paix.
