In the 10 May introductory session, chaired by Deputy Director General for Trade Roderick Abbott, Commissioner Pascal Lamy's call on all stakeholders to work towards corporate citizenship was echoed by Member of the European Parliament Richard Howitt, President of EU Business Federation UNICE Baron Georges Jacobs, Secretary General of EU Trade Unions ETUC Emilio Gabaglio and Chairman of OECD Committee on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises Marinus Sikkel.

The ensuing Round table on Organised civil society, participatory democracy and the reform of modes of European governance, will be moderated by Mr Jérôme Vignon of the European Commission. Keynote speakers will include Mr Bronislaw Geremek, member of the Laeken Group and former Polish Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mr Jacques Julliard, editorial writer for the Nouvel Observateur magazine; and Mr Emilio Gabaglio, ETUC General Secretary.

The official signature of the framework agreement will take place in the Salon Brun of the Breydel building at 17h00, in the presence of Padraig Flynn (European Commissioner with responsibility for Employment and Social Affairs), Allan Larsson (Director-General of DG V), and the signatories, José Bohorquez (president of GEOPA) and Francesco Orsomando (president of EFA), Luc Guyau (President of COPA) and Emilio Gabaglio (Secretary General of ETUC).
