As emphasised in the EP’s resolution of 12 March 2014, the creation of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office represents a step further in the establishment of a European area of criminal justice and contributes to the strengthening of the tools used in the protection of the EU’s financial interests and the fight against fraud, thereby helping to increase taxpayers’ confidence in the EU.

In my opinion, the proposal of the Committee on Industry would enable market participants to be regulated more effectively and guarantee the effective participation of the national regulatory authorities and the use of their experience at EU level.
