I am baffled at the notion of extending the term of copyright, whether it is to 70 years or 95 years, and I am baffled by it not just because it is dubious and almost out of step with the digital age but also because, quite clearly, a move like that will primarily benefit industrial interests and not struggling artists.
Je suis déconcertée par la notion de prolongation de la durée du droit d’auteur, que ce soit à 70 ou 95 ans, et pas uniquement parce que celle-ci est douteuse et presque en décalage avec l’ère numérique, mais aussi parce qu’il est tout à fait clair qu’une telle initiative va principalement profiter aux intérêts industriels et non aux artistes en difficulté.
