Last year, under the same order of reference, the committee was able to travel to Washington and discuss with U.S. stakeholders the various ongoing issues that affect our agriculture and forestry sectors, including the closure of the U.S. border to live cattle, the anti-dumping duty on Canadian hogs, the country of origin labelling regulations that could add an unnecessary burden to our agri-food industry and, of course, the softwood lumber trade issue.
L'année dernière, dans le cadre du même ordre de renvoi, le comité a pu se rendre à Washington pour discuter avec les intervenants américains de diverses questions qui touchent en permanence ces deux secteurs, et notamment la fermeture de la frontière américaine au bétail sur pied, le droit antidumping imposé sur le porc canadien, la réglementation sur l'étiquetage du pays d'origine qui imposera sans nécessité un autre fardeau à notre industrie agroalimentaire et, bien sûr, le problème du bois d'œuvre résineux.
