These programmes aim to demonstrate how countries intend to meet the objectives of the pact and, in particular, the medium-term goal of a budget close to balance or in surplus. The Danish programme, which covers the period 1998-2005, also shows the position of Denmark in relation to the convergence criteria (i.e. inflation, public finances, long-term interest rates and exchange rate stability).
