Participants also heard two of the three EESC "observers" at the convention, Roger Briesch and vice-president Göke Frerichs, as well as one of the members of the convention præsidium, Alojz Peterle, chairman of the European affairs committee of the Slovenian parliament, and one of the two vice-presidents of the convention, Jean-Luc Dehaene, report on the current discussions at the convention.
