INTERPELLATIONS L'honorable sénateur Cools attire l'attention du Sénat:a) sur la lettre à la rédaction du National Post, le 13 mars 1999, intitulée « Fair hearing » et signée par le juge en chef de la Colombie-Britannique Allan McEachern, président du comité sur la conduite des juges du Conseil canadien de la magistrature, en réponse à l'éditorial du 10 mars 1999 dans le National Post intitulé « Hardly Impartial » à propos de Monsieur le juge John Wesley McClung, de Madame la juge Claire L'Heureux-Dubé et du Conseil canadien de la magistrature. b) sur la controverse publique qui se poursuit concernant le juge John Wesley McClung de la Cour d'appel de l'Alberta et de Madame la juge Claire L'Heureux-Dubé de la Cour suprême du Canada, et sur les rapports dans les médias à leur sujet; c) sur l'entrevue et les commentaires du juge en chef Allan McEachern tels que rapportés dans l'article « Judges Must be Cyber-Warriors » paru le 26 février 1999 dans le Lawyers Weekly; d) sur la question des déclarations publiques des juges dans les médias; et e) sur la notion et les principes de l'indépendance judiciaire et sur les droits du Parlement à cet égard.
