(8) In the case of produce to which the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Regulations apply, all information required by these Regulations to be shown on a label shall be shown in the manner that would be required if the information were information required by the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Regulations.

21 (1) Where a consumer textile article is sold to the consumer in a wrapper, package or container, the information that is required by section 11 to be shown in a label shall be shown on such wrapper, package or container and in the prescribed manner unless the disclosure label is applied and the article wrapped, packaged or contained in such a manner that the information in the label is clearly visible to the prospective purchaser when the article is in the wrapper, package or container.

(4) Subsection (3) does not apply where the consumer textile article is or is to be sold to the public in an area where only one of the official languages is in use continuously by the public for the purpose of making consumer purchases and the information required by paragraph (1)(a) is shown in that official language.

While it would not be appropriate to apply sanctions to consumers for not being in a position to provide certain information or assessments or for deciding to discontinue the application process for getting a credit, Member States should be able to provide for sanctions where consumers knowingly provide incomplete or incorrect information in order to obtain a positive creditworthiness assessment, in particular where the complete and correct information would have resulted in a negative creditworthiness assessment and the consumer is subsequently unable to fulfil the conditions of the agreement.

The obligation on traders to inform consumers about the ADR entities by which those traders are covered should be without prejudice to provisions on consumer information on out-of-court redress procedures contained in other Union legal acts, which should apply in addition to the relevant information obligation provided for in this Directive.

For this choice being valid, it would be for the business to prove that the consumer made an informed choice and that he had advance information on all the rights and obligations conferred on him by that law (right of withdrawal, exchange of product, duration and terms of the guarantee, etc If the business failed to do so, the court would apply either the consumer's law or the mandatory provisions of that law. Such a solution, being justified by the existence of a Community minimum standard of consumer protection, would obviously be applicable only if the business was domiciled in a Member State. Whereas, in order to prevent distortions of competition, the same labelling rules for the information of the final consumer should apply to foods and food ingredients consisting of or derived from GMOs which have been placed on the market before the entry into force of Regulation (EC) No 258/97 in accordance with a consent given pursuant to Directive 90/220/EEC, and to foods and food ingredients which are placed on the market thereafter;
