Believes that, in light of the increasing relevance of the BRICS and other emerging powers and the multipolar system of global governance that is taking shape, the G-20 could prove a useful and particularly appropriate forum for consensus building and for a decision-making process which is inclusive, based on partnership and able to foster convergence, including regulatory convergence; takes the view that, notwithstanding the increasing relevance of the G-20, the G-7 could play a key role as a consultative, coordinating and consensus-building forum for the established powers with a view to dialogue with the BRICS and other emerging powers, and ahead of G-20 meetings; considers that the existence of the G-8 should also be harnessed in an effort to reconcile positions with Russia so that common challenges can be addressed in a coordinated and effective manner; supports the G-20 parliamentary dimension and believes that it should be further consolidated and involved in the decision-making processes to ensure reinforced democratic dialogue and scrutiny; supports also the creation of a parallel G-20 consultative forum bringing together non-governmental organisations and leading representatives of civil society and business from G-20 states;

Insists that the Member States should play an active role in supporting existing and in establishing new consultation forums, with proper representation of the actors along the food chain, so as to promote dialogue and establish guidelines to bring about fairer, more balanced relationships; points out that such official consultations help to protect producers and suppliers and ward off retaliatory measures from the distribution sector;
7. insiste pour que les États membres jouent un rôle actif en soutenant les forums de consultation existants et en en mettant en place de nouveaux au sein desquels tous les acteurs intervenant dans la chaîne de distribution alimentaire seraient correctement représentés, de façon à promouvoir le dialogue et à établir des lignes directrices visant à l'établissement de relations plus équitables et plus équilibrées; souligne que ce type de consultations officielles contribue à protéger les producteurs et les fournisseurs et à éviter des mesures de représailles de la part du secteur de la distribution;

Welcomes, in particular, the fact that the Strategy is the result of broad consultation with interested parties in the Member States, including not only national, regional and local authorities but also the academic and business communities as well as NGOs, showing that the consultation process and the inclusion of partners from the very beginning of work on the Strategy is an important factor in its success; in this regard welcomes the establishment of a civil society forum in the region such as the Baltic Sea Action Summit and calls for similar initiatives for future macro-regions that bring together public and private actors, enabling them to become involved in the development of macro-regional strategies;

- In order to maintain the high level of involvement of all the stakeholders in the region, clearly evident during the consultation exercise, there will be an annual forum to bring together partners concerned with different aspects of the strategy, including from interested third countries, to review and discuss the progress of the strategy and to make recommendations on implementation.
