IV. Without prejudice to any requirements under the Community eco-label scheme, where a model has been granted a "European Union eco-label" under Regulation (EC) No 1980/2000 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 July 2000 on a revised Community eco-label award scheme(1), a copy of the eco-label may be added here.
IV. Sans préjudice des dispositions définies dans le cadre du système communautaire d'attribution du label écologique, la marque du label peut figurer sur l'étiquette lorsqu'un "label écologique communautaire" a été attribué à un appareil au titre du règlement (CE) n° 1980/2000 du Parlement européen et du Conseil du 17 juillet 2000 établissant un système communautaire révisé d'attribution du label écologique(1).

(5) For the acceptance by the general public of the Community eco-label award system it is essential that environmental NGOs and consumer organisations play an important role and are actively involved in the development and setting of criteria for Community eco-labels.
(5) Pour que le système communautaire d'attribution du label écologique soit accepté par le grand public, il est essentiel que des organisations non gouvernementales à vocation environnementale et des organisations de consommateurs jouent un rôle important dans l'élaboration et dans la définition des critères du label écologique communautaire et y soient activement associées.

(1) The aims of Council Regulation (EEC) No 880/92 of 23 March 1992 on a Community eco-label award scheme(4) were to establish a voluntary Community eco-label scheme intended to promote products with a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle and to provide consumers with accurate, non-deceptive and scientifically based information on the environmental impact of products.
(1) Le règlement (CEE) n° 880/92 du Conseil du 23 mars 1992 concernant un système communautaire d'attribution de label écologique(4) avait pour objet d'établir un système communautaire de label écologique facultatif destiné à promouvoir les produits ayant une incidence moindre sur l'environnement pendant tout leur cycle de vie et à fournir aux consommateurs des informations précises, exactes et scientifiquement établies concernant l'incidence des produits sur l'environnement.

(15) It is necessary to ensure that the Community eco-label award scheme is consistent and coordinated with the priorities of the Community environmental policy and with other Community labelling or quality-certification schemes such as those established by Council Directive 92/75/EEC of 22 September 1992 on the indication by labelling and standard product information of the consumption of energy and other resources by household appliances(5) and by Council Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 of 24 June 1991 on organic production of agricultural products and indications referring thereto on agricultural products and foodstuffs(6).
(15) Il est nécessaire de veiller à la compatibilité et à la coordination du système communautaire d'attribution du label écologique avec les priorités de la politique communautaire en matière d'environnement et avec d'autres systèmes communautaires d'étiquetage ou de certification de la qualité, tels que ceux qui sont établis par la directive 92/75/CEE du Conseil du 22 septembre 1992 concernant l'indication de la consommation des appareils domestiques en énergie et en autres ressources par voie d'étiquetage et d'informations uniformes relatives aux produits(5) et par le règlement (CEE) n° 2092/91 du Conseil du 24 juin 1991 concernant le mode de production biologique de produits agricoles et sa présentation sur les produits agricoles et les denrées alimentaires(6).

(4) The basic aims for a voluntary and selective Community eco-label award scheme are still valid; in particular such an award scheme should provide guidance to consumers on products with a potential for reducing environmental impact when viewed through its entire life-cycle, and should provide information on the environmental characteristics of labelled products.
(4) Les objectifs fondamentaux d'un système communautaire d'attribution du label écologique facultatif et sélectif restent valables; un tel système d'attribution doit en particulier guider les consommateurs vers les produits susceptibles de réduire les incidences sur l'environnement durant tout leur cycle de vie et fournir des informations sur les caractéristiques écologiques des produits porteurs de label.
