Yet we cannot ignore the obverse side, the criminalization of freedom of expression, as in the case of Egyptian blogger Maikel Nabil, or the targeting and murder of journalist Marie Colvin in Syria, or the establishment of an Internet firewall, as in Iran, to quarantine Internet freedom, or that the same Internet that transports the best of free speech also transports the worst of assaultive speech, including even state-sanctioned incitement to genocide, thereby warranting remedy and sanction.
Nous ne pouvons pas pour autant ignorer la contrepartie, soit la criminalisation de la liberté d'expression, comme dans le cas du blogueur égyptien Maikel Nabil, ou l'assassinat de la journaliste Marie Colvin en Syrie ou encore la mise en place d'un pare-feu pour empêcher l'accès à Internet, comme en Iran. Nous ne pouvons pas ignorer non plus qu'Internet permet la diffusion de ce que la liberté d'expression produit de mieux, mais aussi de pire, y compris des incitations au génocide interdites par l'État, légitimant ainsi les recours et les sanctions.
