The EU-supported 'European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network' (ECRIN) has developed a single European area for clinical research as it integrates national clinical research facilities into an EU-wide network able to provide support in any medical field through specialised services and infrastructure.
Le Réseau européen d'infrastructures de recherche clinique (ECRIN), soutenu par l'UE, a fait naître un espace européen unique pour la recherche clinique car il intègre des installations nationales de recherche clinique dans un réseau à l'échelle de l'UE, à même d'apporter un soutien dans n'importe quel domaine médical grâce à des services et une infrastructure spécialisés.

BUILDING on the ESFRI roadmap that identified the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN) as the distributed infrastructure supporting, based on scientific excellence, clinical research in Europe through information, consulting and services to investigators and sponsors in multinational studies, acting through correspondents hosted in national clinical research hubs and networks, also contributing to the structuring of national infrastructures, harmonising training, tools and practice and high quality standards, fostering transparency and data sharing, promoting a harmonised regulatory system and shared ethical standards.
S’APPUYANT sur la feuille de route ESFRI qui a reconnu le réseau européen d’infrastructures de recherche clinique (ECRIN) en tant qu’infrastructure distribuée qui soutient, sur la base de l’excellence scientifique, la recherche clinique en Europe par la fourniture d’informations, de conseils et de services aux chercheurs et aux promoteurs d’études multinationales, qui agit par l’intermédiaire de correspondants hébergés dans des plateformes et réseaux de recherche clinique nationaux, qui contribue également à la structuration d’infrastructures nationales, à l’harmonisation des formations, des outils et des pratiques et à l’établissement de normes de haute qualité, qui encourage la transparence et l’échange de données, qui promeut un système réglementaire harmonisé et des normes éthiques partagées.

1. ECRIN-ERIC shall constitute a Pan-European distributed clinical research infrastructure with as objectives to provide advice and services to multinational clinical research, in any medical field and for any category of clinical research, observing high scientific, ethical and quality standards, in order to strengthen the capacity of the European Union to explore the determinants of diseases and to develop and optimise the use of diagnostic, prevention and treatment strategies.

L’ERIC-ECRIN constitue une infrastructure de recherche clinique distribuée paneuropéenne dont les objectifs sont de fournir des conseils et des services à la recherche clinique multinationale, dans tout domaine médical et pour toute catégorie de recherche clinique, en observant des normes scientifiques, éthiques et de qualité élevées, afin de renforcer la capacité de l’Union européenne à étudier les déterminants des pathologies et à élaborer et à optimiser l’utilisation de stratégies de diagnostic, de prévention et de traitement.

3. Information, advice and services proposed by ECRIN-ERIC shall particularly cover support to clinical trial management, reducing the fragmentation of health and legislative systems in Europe: submissions to ethics committees and competent authorities, adverse event reporting, study monitoring, data management, support with insurance contracting.

Les informations, conseils et services proposés par l’ERIC-ECRIN englobent notamment l’appui à la gestion d’essais cliniques, atténuant la fragmentation des systèmes sanitaires et législatifs en Europe: présentation de dossiers à des comités d’éthique et à des autorités compétentes, signalement d’événements indésirables, suivi d’études, gestion de données, aide à la conclusion de contrats d’assurance.

2. ECRIN-ERIC shall provide information, advice and services to clinical investigators and sponsors of multinational studies, as well as advice to national and European authorities and policymakers, as described in the Scientific and Technical Annex accompanying the ERIC application documents.

Specific clinical data, including long term performance data are not always available for hip, knee and shoulder replacements before they are placed on the market and put into service; consequently, conclusions on clinical data collected by the manufacturer in the framework of the evaluation of the conformity of these products with the requirements concerning their characteristics and performance referred to in Sections 1 and 3 of Annex I to Directive 93/42/EEC should be subject to particular attention and examination in order to verify the appropriateness of the clinical data available.
Il n’est pas toujours possible de disposer de données cliniques spécifiques, y compris sur les performances à long terme, avant la mise sur le marché et la mise en service des prothèses de la hanche, du genou et de l’épaule. Il importe donc que les conclusions relatives aux données cliniques recueillies par le fabricant dans le cadre de l’évaluation de la conformité de ces produits avec les exigences concernant leurs caractéristiques et leurs performances, visées aux points 1 et 3 de l'annexe I de la directive 93/42/CEE, soient soumises à un examen attentif afin de vérifier le caractère adéquat des données cliniques disponibles.
