RECOGNISING that recent extreme weather events in Europe and many other parts of the world have dramatically illustrated how vulnerable human societies are to climate change, and UNDERLINING the need for further international and Community actions and for prevention measures in the fields of climate, energy and transport, as outlined in the 6th EAP, as well as in the field of flood control, refers to the conclusions on the preparation of the Eighth Conference of the Parties (COP8) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (New Delhi, 23 October to 1 November 2002).
23. RECONNAISSANT que les phénomènes climatiques extrêmes qui ont récemment touché l'Europe et d'autres régions du monde ont illustré de manière dramatique la vulnérabilité des sociétés humaines face aux changements climatiques et SOULIGNANT qu'il est nécessaire de lancer de nouvelles initiatives au niveau international et communautaire et de prendre des mesures de prévention dans le domaine du climat, de l'énergie et des transports, comme l'indique le sixième plan d'action pour l'environnement, ainsi que dans le domaine de la maîtrise des inondations, RENVOIE aux conclusions relatives aux travaux préparatoires à la huitième Conférence des parties (COP8) à la Convention-cadre des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques (CCNUCC) (New Delhi, du 23 octobre au 1 novembre 2002).
