Stresses that the development impact of investments in the extractive sector should be enhanced through more transparency in the procurement and contracting process and more active engagement of African civil society organisations in oversight; in this context, calls on the EU to encourage China to endorse the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative principles;

Finally, the ECA noted that the GJU had received EUR 15 million from third parties, i.e. amounts of EUR 5 million each from the Israeli Industry Centre for Research and Development (MATIMOP), the National Remote Sensing Centre of China (NRSCC - People's Republic of China) and Belgium.
