Welcomes the importance assigned to the issue of racism and discrimination at the 2016 sessions of the HRC; condemns once again racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic and xenophobic violence and violence against migrants, which have reached alarming levels in some Member States, in the absence of firm action on the part of the authorities; expresses alarm at the upsurge in hate speech and stigmatising rhetoric directed against minorities and at the rise of groups of persons who are exerting increasing influence in the media and in political movements and parties which exercise government responsibility in some Member States, influence which has led, in particular, to the enactment of restrictive legislation;

That is why I join with my fellow Members in calling for all the competent authorities to intervene immediately in order to bring the perpetrators of these crimes before the courts and in calling on the United Nations Security Council once again to urgently take any measures that have the capacity to actually prevent anyone else from committing further attacks against the civilian populations in the eastern province of the DRC.
C’est pour cela que je m’associe à mes collègues pour demander à toutes les autorités compétentes d’intervenir sans délai pour traduire en justice les auteurs de ces crimes et inviter à nouveau le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies à prendre d’urgence toute mesure susceptible d’empêcher réellement quiconque de s’attaquer encore aux populations civiles dans la province orientale de la RDC.

Even this House, alas, has not been without those who defend this approach, and so it is right and proper that it should take up a clear position and should unconditionally condemn all intolerance, all incitement of racial hatred and anti-Semitism in whatever shape or form. Again and again, we must nip these things in the bud.
