I believe that when we take a look at the proposal that embarked on the legislative process and think back to the way it was stripped down from the Council's initial stance to achieve the final result, I think we can state with pride that Parliament has done its job, which is much more than being – I cannot say ‘custodian’ because the Commission is the custodian – let us say a determined proponent of European legislation and the role Europe must perform for the common good.
Si nous regardons la proposition à l’origine du processus législatif et repensons à la manière dont elle a été réduite à la suite de la position initiale du Conseil pour aboutir au résultat final, je pense que nous pouvons affirmer avec fierté que le Parlement a fait son travail, qui est loin de se limiter à être - je ne peux pas dire «gardien» car c’est la Commission qui est la gardienne - un partisan convaincu de la législation européenne et du rôle que l’Europe doit jouer pour le bien de tous.
