It is unfortunate that this government, instead of making real progress on aboriginal issues, and we can draw a parallel here with the national question, preferred to take the easy way out, an easy way I would call pernicious because it will force aboriginal communities to go along with the fundamental principles of the Indian Act if they want to take advantage of certain changes.
Il est triste en même temps de constater que ce gouvernement, au lieu de vraiment faire avancer la question autochtone-on peut faire un parallèle avec la question nationale-ait plutôt choisi la voie de la facilité, mais une facilité que j'ai caractérisée de vicieuse, puisqu'elle va forcer les communautés autochtones à accepter les principes de base de cette Loi sur les Indiens s'ils veulent profiter de certains aménagements.
