I believe that we must adhere to them, since only then can the fight against poverty and the combating of social exclusion be tackled in a truly European way, namely if everyone has a hand in it, and not just a bunch of highly-paid civil servants gathering cosily together in Brussels.
Je pense que nous devons nous y tenir, car c’est à ce prix que la lutte contre la pauvreté et l’exclusion sociale trouvera corps au niveau européen, à savoir lorsqu'elle deviendra une préoccupation générale et pas seulement celle de quelques fonctionnaires surpayés et confortablement installés à Bruxelles.
