As Europol's remit has been extended since the Europol Convention was signed and extended again by the Amsterdam Treaty, bringing Europol ever closer to the EU, the provision of Article 35(2), that Europol's budget will be financed by contributions from the Member States and other occasional income is no longer adequate.
