Welcomes the European Council"s statement on the situation on India and Pakistan; again invites Pakistan to take further action to prevent terrorist groups operating in and from the territory under its control, to comply with its international obligations including UN Security Council Resolution 1373 (2001), and to stop infiltration across the line of control; encourages India to take further de-escalatory steps in order to create a situation which would bring about a long-lasting solution to the problem through bilateral negotiations; reiterates its proposal that the EU could, thanks to its own historic background, act as a facilitator for contacts between the two countries in order to get them around the negotiation table; invites the High Representative for CFSP to pay a visit in the near future to the region;
48. se félicite de la déclaration du Conseil européen sur la situation en Inde et au Pakistan; invite à nouveau le Pakistan à prendre d'autres mesures pour empêcher les groupes terroristes d'opérer sur le territoire sous son contrôle et à partir de celui-ci, à se conformer à ses obligations internationales, y compris la résolution n° 1373 (2001) du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies, et à mettre fin aux infiltrations le long de la ligne de contrôle; encourage l'Inde à prendre de nouvelles mesures de désescalade afin de créer une situation qui, grâce à des négociations bilatérales, apporterait une solution durable au problème; réaffirme sa proposition selon laquelle l'UE pourrait, grâce à son propre passé, agir comme facilitateur pour entretenir des contacts entre les deux pays afin de les ramener à la table des négociations; invite le Haut Représentant pour la PESC à se rendre rapidement dans cette région;
