In the Cooperation Specific Programme research activities will concentrate mainly on two themes (i) “Energy”, aiming at bringing down the unit cost of fuels by improving conventional technologies and developing second-generation biofuels (e.g. Fischer-Tropsch biodiesel, lignocellulosic ethanol, bio-dimethylether) and (ii) “Food, agriculture and biotechnology”, applying life sciences and biotechnology to improving biomass production systems.
