However, there is no time for complacency to face the challenges of continued growth and of global competition. The internal market needs to be broadened to improve the performance of all segments of the aviation industry such as airport and air navigation services. The benefits from the internal market should also be extended to external aviation relations. Air transport needs strong infrastructures both in the air and on the ground. The on-going creation of the single sky should further increase the efficiency of EU air transport; leadership is needed in terms of the future structure of air traffic management systems.
Toutefois, face aux défis de la croissance permanente et de la concurrence mondiale, il faut se garder d’un excès de confiance. Le marché intérieur a besoin d’être agrandi afin d’améliorer les performances de tous les segments du secteur d’activité, tels que les services aéroportuaires et les services de navigation aérienne. Les apports positifs du marché intérieur devraient aussi être étendus aux liaisons aériennes avec l’extérieur. Le transport aérien a besoin d’infrastructures solides, aussi bien au sol que pour le segment aérien. La création en cours du ciel unique devrait encore accroître l’efficacité du transport aérien dans l’UE. Les initiatives appropriées sont attendues pour définir la future structure des systèmes de gestion du trafic aérien.
