With regard to its forthcoming proposals concerning the new common organisation of the market in olive oil, applicable as of 1 November 2001, will the Commission say whether there is any truth in the rumours that the market is to be opened up to imports from third countries, in particular by reducing the tariffs on olive oil from non-Community Mediterranean countries, and that it intends to ask the Member States to accept a reduction in the Maximum Guaranteed Quantity in the Community budget?
La Commission pourrait-elle indiquer, dans le cadre des propositions qu'elle compte présenter bientôt concernant la nouvelle organisation commune du marché de l'huile d'olive qui devrait entrer en vigueur le 1er novembre 2001, si les rumeurs répondent à la réalité selon lesquelles il serait prévu d'ouvrir le marché aux importations de pays tiers par le biais en particulier d'une réduction des droits qui sont imposés à l'huile d'olive provenant des pays tiers méditerranéens, et si elle compte demander aux États membres d'accepter une réduction de la quantité maximale garantie au titre du budget communautaire ?
