This editorial suggested that, given the hardships and unfairness that may ensue, with people perhaps unable to study or work abroad, the government’s “tough on crime” image was being put ahead of the greater social good.39 While another Edmonton Journal editorial found that the proposed changes to the pardons system strike the “right balance,” it was less clear whether the editorial supported the imposition of longer wait times.
