As I said in my earlier comments, there is nothing that should prevent Canada from strongly signalling to President al-Bashir that we will not hesitate to use those available troops, that capacity, to back up a UN mission, but use every bit of diplomatic effort available to make that unnecessary because we need to get President al-Bashir to respond to the global pressure and the growing horrors about the genocide in slow motion that is happening in Darfur.
Pour reprendre ce que j'ai dit plus tôt, rien n'empêche le Canada de faire clairement savoir au président al-Bechir que nous n'hésiterons pas à déployer les militaires canadiens disponibles, notre capacité militaire, pour appuyer une mission de l'ONU, tout en faisant tous les efforts diplomatiques possibles pour ne pas avoir à en arriver là, car il faut inciter le président al-Bashir à réagir aux pressions internationales et aux horreurs qui se multiplient dans le contexte du génocide qui est en train de se perpétrer petit à petit au Darfour.
