Motion no 45 Qu'on modifie le projet de loi C-14 par adjonction, après la ligne 32, page 68, du nouvel article suivant: «146.7 (1) L'Office rend une ordonnance autorisant l'abandon d'une ligne principale ou de l'un de ses tronçons six mois après la date de réception de la demande lorsque l'Office arrive à la conclusion que: a) la ligne principale ou l'un de ses tronçons n'est pas rentable et qu'il y a peu de probabilité qu'il le devienne; b) que la ligne principale n'est pas nécessaire dans l'intérêt public (2) Le gouverneur en conseil peut, à la demande d'une expéditeur, d'un gouvernement provincial ou municipal ou de l'un de leurs mandataires, modifier la date établie en vertu de l'ordonnance visée au paragraphe (1) ou en vertu d'une modification d'une ordonnance antérieure, mais il ne peut reporter de plus de cinq ans la date fixée en vertu de l'ordonnance originale ou d'une de ses modifications, s'il estime que: a) l'abandon de l'exploitation de la ligne ou de son tronçon serait contraire à l'intérêt public; b) l'abandon de l'exploitation de la ligne ou de son tronçon aurait des conséquences importantes sur une grande région du Canada; c) l'abandon de l'exploitation de la ligne ou de son tronçon aurait des conséquences importantes pour les expéditeurs; d) il n'y a pas de moyens de transport de remplacement valables dans le secteur desservi par la ligne ou le tronçon».
