IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

I. whereas eight states impose the death penalty for homosexuality (Mauritania, Sudan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Qatar) and provinces of Nigeria and Somalia officially implement the death penalty for same-sex sexual acts;

16. Strongly deplores the fact that eight states have legislation prescribing the death penalty for homosexuality (Mauritania, Sudan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Qatar) and that provinces of Nigeria and Somalia hand down death sentences for same-sex sexual acts; calls on these states to stop criminalising homosexuality, and calls on Brunei Darussalam not to carry out its plans to apply the death penalty for homosexuality; urges the EEAS to maintain the fight against the criminalisation of homosexuality as a key priority, in line with the EU Guidelines to promote and protect the enjoyment of all human rights by LGBTI persons;
16. déplore vivement que huit États conservent une législation qui prescrit la peine de mort pour homosexualité (Mauritanie, Soudan, Iran, Arabie saoudite, Yémen, Pakistan, Afghanistan et Qatar) et qu'au Nigeria et en Somalie, certaines provinces prononcent des condamnations à mort pour des actes sexuels entre personnes de même sexe; demande à ces États de ne plus frapper l'homosexualité de sanctions pénales et prie le Brunei Darussalam de ne pas donner corps à son projet d'appliquer la peine de mort pour homosexualité; demande instamment au SEAE de maintenir la lutte contre la pénalisation de l'homosexualité parmi ses grandes priorités, conformément aux lignes directrices visant à promouvoir et à garantir le respect de tous les droits fondamentaux des personnes lesbiennes, gays, bisexuelles, transgenres et intersexuées (LGBTI);

Considers it regrettable that 78 countries still criminalise homosexuality, including 7 which provide for the death penalty (Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Mauritania, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iran, the Maldives and Brunei), and that 20 countries still criminalise transgender identities; firmly condemns the recent increase in discriminatory laws and believes that practices and acts of violence against individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity should not go unpunished; encourages close monitoring of the situation in Nigeria, Uganda, Malawi, India and Russia, where new laws or recent legal developments seriously threaten the freedom of sexual minorities; reaffirms its support for the continuing work of the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights to combat these discriminatory laws and practices and for the UN’s work more generally on this issue;
159. fait observer que l'homosexualité constitue toujours un délit dans 78 pays, dont 7 prévoient la peine de mort (l'Arabie saoudite, le Nigeria, la Mauritanie, le Soudan, la Sierra Leone, le Yémen, l'Afghanistan, l'Iran, les Maldives et le Brunei), et que 20 pays continuent d'ériger les identités transgenres en délit; condamne avec fermeté la recrudescence récente de lois discriminatoires et estime que les pratiques et les actes de violence contre des personnes sur la base de leur orientation sexuelle et de leur identité de genre ne doivent pas rester impunis; recommande de suivre de près la situation au Nigeria, en Ouganda, au Malawi, en Inde et en Russie, où de nouvelles lois ou des évolutions juridiques récentes mettent gravement en péril la liberté des minorités sexuelles; réaffirme son soutien aux efforts persistants du Haut-Commissaire aux droits de l'homme pour lutter contre ces lois et pratiques discriminatoires et, plus généralement, à l'action des Nations unies en ce domaine;
