This commitment affects us all, and I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the EU, which asks the Member States to make great efforts to reach the targets, should set a good example: with a single action – rationalising the Strasbourg seat – it would achieve not only a significant reduction in waste in terms of energy, paper, heating, lighting and moving thousands of people in cars, trains and aeroplanes every month, it would also send out a strong political message that would undoubtedly have a positive impact on our citizens.
Cet engagement nous concerne tous et je voudrais saisir cette occasion pour répéter que l’Union européenne, qui demande aux États membres de consentir de gros efforts pour atteindre les objectifs, devrait donner le bon exemple: avec une seule action- la rationalisation du siège de Strasbourg- non seulement elle réduirait considérablement le gaspillage d’énergie, de papier, de chauffage, d’éclairage et celui dû au déplacement de milliers de personnes en voiture, en train et en avion chaque mois, mais elle enverrait également un message politique fort qui aurait sans aucun doute un impact positif sur les citoyens européens.
